One Semester Gone
Looks like I survived my first formal semester of Diaconate training. I had a great time studying the Old Testament with Fr. Dave and my fellow D.I.T.s (that's Deacons In Training). We had one of our Homiletics' Saturdays this past weekend. John Hill and others did exceptional jobs. The bar has been set pretty high for the rest of us. It was interesting to learn that the Second Vatican Council stated the number one responsibility of a Priest is to proclaim the Word of God. As a Deacon, I would have that same privilege as allowed by the priest that I might serve. What an honor that would be! Thanks for everyone's prayers.

A Beginning
The 'web' has always been too big for me. Too many options. Too many avenues. Should I do facebook or myspace? What do I put out there? How much is too much? Will I stick with it? Remember the "family connection" experience? It just faded away.
So why am I here? I guess it boils down to missing my kids. One of the best connections I've had with David and Jeanne' and Janie and Alex has been their blog. They just told me about their new Nebraska blog, so I signed on and watched some neat videos of Janie and one of Alex. Sure wish you had taken a video of David. I saw Susan and Kelley's link and for the first time, I read Susan's post from March. I miss my kids. Family has always been important to me and since loosing Dad last summer it's been magnified a hundred times.
So I guess that's why I'm here. To give something to my family, and to receive something from them. I'll try to stick with it. History suggests that I'll fail. But, last time I checked, my free will is still intact. Wish me luck. Better yet, say a prayer for me. gd
